I was recently given a copy of Jon Acuff’s book Quitter. I love Jon’s writing and I couldn’t wait to read this book. The only problem is that I can’t tell anyone that I’m reading it. The book’s subtitle is “Closing the gap between your day job and your dream job.” Um…how can I tell someone that I’m reading that and they not automatically think I’m leaving my job? In this day of social media one Tweet, “I love Jon Acuff’s book, Quitter” can get you in a heap of a lot of trouble with your boss. So I thought of a few ways that you can promote Jon’s book and not get in trouble…

  • “Craig Groeschel (Pastor of LifeChurch.tv and author of a bunch of great books) has his dream job and he wrote on the back of the book that ‘this book is a must read.'” Throwing out a known name who has their dream job should keep you out of trouble with your boss.
  • “I just bought all of Jon Acuff’s books. You should read all three of them!” Thanks to Jon’s ability to write books at super ninja speed you can promote all three of his books and never say that you love Quitter.
  • “I love Jon Acuff’s book Quieter. It’s a must read.” With just a slight misspelling you can rename his book and hopefully your boss won’t know any better.
  • “I just read Quitter, and thanks to Jon Acuff I discovered that I might be doing my dream job at this very moment one day.” Okay, this is called the confusing method. It’s so confusing that no one will understand what you are saying. It still promotes his book though.
  • “Quitter give away. If you don’t have your dream job, enter this contest on my site.” Throw a contest and give the book away. That way when your boss asks you about the book you can say you no longer have a copy.
  • “I loved reading Jon Acuff’s autobiography, Quitter, about how he went from a desk job to his dream job.” I don’t think this is a lie. It does tell his story…right?
  • “Jon Acuff works for Dave Ramsey. Dave is the financial guru. I wish Dave would run for President. Read Quitter. It will change your life. Dave Rules!” Most bosses are busy. They don’t have time to read every word of your tweets. So sandwich how you really feel in the middle of a Tweet and hope for the best.

Have you read Quitter? If not and you want to I’m giving away one copy of his book. Here’s how you can win it.

  1. Leave a comment.
  2. Tweet about the contest by clicking the tweet button at the bottom of this post.

I will randomly select one person and mail them the book. The contest will end Friday at 5:00 PM. Good luck.
