I know a lot of you aren’t sports fans and if you are you may not be a big baseball fan, but this story is amazing. Last night Josh Hamilton hit 28 home runs in the home run derby. That is the most ever in a single round. He ended up losing the competition because after 2 rounds they erase your score and start over. The amazing thing though is not his record or even the fact that he lost. The amazing thing is a few years ago Josh was a crack addict. Josh was drafted number one overall in the MLB draft. He was living his dream and many considered him to be the next great thing. After he was drafted he was in a car accident and I heard him say in an interview that at that time he started hanging out with people who made bad choices. Eventually he found himself addicted to drugs. He has been in rehab 8 times. He had lost everything, but the love of his wife. Then one December Josh gave his life to God and God radically changed him. His story has been shown on ESPN, written about in Sports Illustrated, and talked about on every major sports show. In everything that I’ve seen Josh gives credit to God for changing his life. I know that when celebrities get in trouble normally one of the first things they say is that they found God. OJ did it, Michael Vick did it, Kobe Bryant did it. Josh is different though. He changed and then with God’s help has made it back to the pros. His story has been an inspiration to millions. Here’s an article that he wrote for ESPN a year ago when he played for the Cincinnati Reds. This is a great story! It gives hope to everyone that our mistakes are not too big for God.
